The group has developed a unique method for lifting above ground storage tanks. The “Watson Air Lift®” Technology, which is marketed throughout its international operating areas.

Over 1000 bulk storage tanks of sizes up to 300 feet in diameter, 1800 tons in weight have been lifted using the technology, for which U.S. patent No. 5,232,202. and No. 5,397,103. have been issued. Further international patents are pending.

The “Watson Air Lift®” Technology utilizes air bags placed beneath the tank walls to lift the tank, incrementally to any height. Each air bag inflation lifts the tank approximately 6 inches. Between each bag inflation the tank is supported on cross hatch, timber sties.

Floor support, required with large diameter tanks, can be provided without the need to cut holes in the tank floor. The system can be used on any size tank, is safe and does not require “hot work” to be performed. This allows tanks which contain residue, have leaked or have not been gas freed to be safely lifted.

The “Watson Air Lift®” Technology creates the least possible stress in the tank by spreading the loads over a considerable length of the tank shell. Foundation stresses are low and do not exceed the stresses generated under normal tank operations.
